Portfolio Update – February 2019

It is another month and things have been looking pretty good. We made progress with the portfolio and some more good news coming.

My Portfolio performance year to date is -0.50%. While the PSEI still ahead at 3.21%. MER, CLI and FB have already announced a dividend. CLI increased its dividend by more than 30%. Its a very good increase and I expect to receive more increases in the future.

To invest in US stocks, I use this service.

The US stock portfolio is doing good at the moment. FTDR actually went up 12.18% yesterday because of “unexpected increase in earnings that beats the analysts forecasts”. Is it really that big of a deal? Last year was a year with heavy super typhoon, now that the weather has calmed down, of course it will beat the estimates. 🙂

Problem with real estate property #1:

The seller approached me, asking my permission to buy back the property for P250,000. I’m surprised of course and asked why. The thing is, all the members of her family have decided against selling the property because I got it cheap and wanted it back. Being a capitalist, I didn’t agree to sell without having a bit of profit myself. But I’m not so greedy as to make bad blood with other people, I decided to sell for 350k with a little bit of profit from my original purchase price.

We didn’t have any deal with the matter because they don’t want to pay 350k. They want to buy it back the same amount I bought it from them. But that’s not gonna happen. 🙂

Property #2: Is doing well and renovation is going well as planned.

I am looking forward for March. How about you? How are your portfolios holding up?

  1. My portfolio was up by about 1.4% last month. Nothing much happened, other than a couple of press releases, a dividend announcement, and share buybacks. Pretty uneventful. It’s at times like this that I see why some people want to employ a more active strategy in the stock market, but as a long-term value investor, I’m quite satisfied where I am.

Guess the seller of Property no. 1 should have thought things through a bit more, huh?
